Lume
Shells can be smooth, shiny, rough, or bumpy, but beneath their exteriors, all shells are sensitive. A foreign object that enters the shell can be harmful and uncomfortable, such as a grain of sand that can destroy some shells. However, there are other shells that adapt to pain by softening it, rounding it off, and enveloping it in a thin layer of nacre.
In this way, a grain of sand transforms into a pearl. When we talk about parallels in life, we should embrace everything that is difficult, uncomfortable, unexpected, and demanding; perhaps it is there for a reason, worth the effort and dedication. We need to be true to ourselves. We must express our sensitive, unique side, no matter how cruel the world and our surroundings may be. Throughout life, we will gather many pearls.
I want to represent pearls in a garment, a vest, as a symbol of everything we bring to the surface, in our own unique way.
I want to depict the garment of a shirt based on the shell and its covering, which lets in and then disperses, as the interior breaks down until a pearl is formed. We are the ones who allow circumstances into our lives and strive to overcome them later on.
