REGENERATIVE FOLKLORE

REGENERATIVE FOLKLORE collection unites the past and the present, weaving together the memories and identity passed down from my Andalusian ancestors.
Guided by ACIEN'S grandmother’s wisdom, SHE honour HER heritage through traditional techniques she WAS TOUGHT and local resources that belong to HER village, such as esparto and cañaberas. These materials carry the essence of HER heritage, and SHE IS dedicated to preserving them for future generations as they hold the authenticity of HER genesis.
ACIEN IS committed to a regenerative approach, preserving the earth's resources and promoting biodiversity. ACIEN'S garments are made from pineapple and nettle certified organic yarns, fully plant based, hand-dyed with a blend of natural dyes sourced from bacteria and invasive plants. Water conservation is a key aspect of HER collection, utilising materials and dyes that require minimal water usage compared to synthetic alternatives.
With each stitch, ACIEN IS not just creating a garment, but a symbol of HER connection to HER ancestors, HER community, and the earth. Through REGENERATIVE FOLKLORE, SHE aimS to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the importance of preserving our heritage for future generations.

About Me

Silvia Acién is a Spanish Andalusian designer who graduated from Central Saint Martins BA Knitwear course in 2023.

She comes from a rural part of Spain. Growing up at her parent’s farm influenced her way of observing her surroundings. Respecting nature is one of the most important parts of Silvia’s life and she tries to bring this into every piece of clothing she creates, using natural and regenerative elements.

During her degree, Acién won the Maison/0 x LVMH Green Trial Award and the Frameworks Knitters Award, and showed her work in The Future Fabric Expo and TATE MODERN. Silvia was featured in magazines such as Office, FG*K, Malvie, Hunter, Sicky, Sleek, and Aether. She also took part in several Fundraising catwalks and won the Central Saint Martins Nike project.
